Editorial Standards
Last updated: 2026-09-24
Estate & Design is an editorial publication, not a marketing channel. These standards bind every article and every object we publish. Knowledge comes before spectacle.
Verification before publication
Factual claims are traced to named, checkable sources, which are listed at the foot of each article. Figures come from the underlying documents, registries, filings or reputable reporting, and we say which. When credible sources disagree, we say so and explain the figure we report.
Nothing invented
We never invent architects, owners, dates, materials, prices, provenances, histories, quotations, people or events. If a fact cannot be verified, we leave it out or say plainly that it is unknown. Descriptions attributed to architects, owners or stewards are attributed; our own judgments are clearly ours.
No firsthand claims unless firsthand
We do not claim visits, access or interviews that did not happen. Where ownership is private, we respect privacy and write from published documentation, verified photography and credible reporting, and we say so.
Real photography, honestly captioned
Photographs of named properties, projects and objects are real photographs, credited to their makers and published under applicable rights. A photograph never depicts a place, building or object it does not actually show, and captions say what the image shows. We do not present generated imagery as photography of a real place.
One intelligence, identified
Objects, our curated selection of remarkable pieces, is an editorial feature, not a shop. Selections are made on architectural and design merit by our editors. Advertising, sponsored content and commercial partnerships are always identified as such, and editorial and commercial relationships are clearly distinguished.

When we err, we correct openly. See our corrections policy.
