About

Estate & Design is an international editorial publication about exceptional places and the ideas, architecture, interiors, landscapes, objects and people behind them.

The publication takes the entire property as its subject: architecture, interiors, land, gardens, setting, history, provenance, restoration, materials, craftsmanship, furniture, art and objects. A house is never only a house. It is a response to a landscape, a record of decisions about material and craft, and often the life's work of the people who shaped it.

What we cover

Remarkable residences, important architecture, significant interiors, landscape architecture, gardens, restoration and preservation, materials and craft, furniture and lighting, design history, and the architects, designers and makers behind exceptional environments.

How we work

Knowledge comes before spectacle. We research every story, verify factual claims, and distinguish clearly between editorial judgment and commercial relationships. Our editorial standards bind every article we publish, and our corrections policy governs what happens when we get something wrong. We never invent architects, owners, dates, materials, prices or histories. Where ownership is private, we respect privacy. Where access was not firsthand, we write transparently from published documentation, verified photography and credible reporting.

Photography is central to the publication. For named properties and real products we use real photography, and we respect the licensing terms attached to it.

Commercial independence

Editorial selections are made on architectural and design merit. Advertising, sponsored content and commercial partnerships are always identified as such. Objects, our curated selection of remarkable pieces, is an editorial feature, not a shop: Estate & Design does not sell products and does not rank them by price.
